I’ve talked a lot about our dreams for our “forever home”. We love our little house but are more than aware that we’re starting to outgrow it! I wrote a post about what I’d like in my dream garden and one thing my husband and I definitely agree on is artificial grass. We bought our current house almost five years ago now and we have had artificial grass the whole time we have been here.
We’ve been really pleased with our artificial grass. Here’s just a few reasons why.
No Need To Water
One main benefit to having artificial grass is not needing to water it. You’d think that wouldn’t be too much of an issue with the amount of rainfall we receive in the UK but during the summer months our grass in our old home could become parched. That’s just not an issue with artificial grass. There’s no need to water it which reduces water consumption which is both good for the environment, and for your wallet!
Safe For Children
Artificial grass is completely safe for children to play on which is an absolute must with three children in the house. There’s no need for weed killer, pesticides or any other nasty chemicals so you can relax knowing the children are playing safely.
No Need To Mow
Another massive benefit for us in not needing to mow the lawn. I say “us”, but it was always my husband who was saddled with the chore of mowing and he hated it! Obviously since artificial grass doesn’t grow, there’s no need to mow at all. My husband took great pleasure in discarding our old lawnmower when we moved here!
Low Maintenance
Since artificial grass doesn’t need watering or mowing its so low maintenance. This means we can go away in the summer and basically neglect the garden and know it’s not going to be an overgrown mess! It also means it’s great for those who are older and perhaps a bit less mobile as there’s no chance of it looking wild when it’s untended.
Always Looks Great Regardless Of The Weather
Artificial grass will always look aesthetically pleasing in all weathers. It drains well in the rain and doesn’t become parched and straw-like in the summer months. You never need to worry about what it will look like if you have guests round for a BBQ as the weather doesn’t have a direct effect on the appearance of the turf.
Durable
Providing it’s installed correctly, artificial grass is really durable. Ours is almost five years old and has three young children bounding over it and it still looks great. There are no bald patches to worry about and you don’t need to worry about pets digging it up!
These are just some of the reasons we love our artificial grass and wouldn’t hesitate getting it again for our next home.
