If you want to meet as many characters as possible whilst visiting Disneyland Paris, you’ll need the Lineberty app.
I mentioned it as part of my Disneyland Paris tips post but if you haven’t visited DLP in the past year or so, you may not be familiar with the app and how it works.
What Is Lineberty Disneyland Paris?

The Lineberty app is basically used to book popular characters within the Studios park. It isn’t used for all characters and it’s for characters in the Studios park only. The main Disneyland Park is unaffected and you can queue as normal for character meets there.
When we went in December 2018 Woody, Buzz, Spiderman and Minnie Mouse were the characters being booked via the app but these are subject to change.
How Does Lineberty Disneyland Paris Work?
The Lineberty app really is so simple to use. Download the app from the App Store or Google Play store depending on your device.
You can only book the characters from 9.45am on the day you want to meet them. When the slots come available you can only book for one character at a time, so choose carefully!
When you load up the app you need to choose the location, which is obviously Disneyland Paris. From there you are given the option of Studios or Disneyland Park. After selecting Studios the list of characters will appear. Obviously they are showing as closed here but if you use the app within the parks at the correct time, you should be able to select the character of your choice. From here you select how many tickets you need and if you’ve been quick enough, you will be allotted a ticket number and an estimate time for your character meet. You can now go about your day until the app buzzes that it’s almost your turn, and you can start to make your way over to the designated meet and greet area.

Why Lineberty Disneyland Paris Is Great.
The obvious advantage of the Lineberty app is not having to stand in a two hour queue to meet your favourite character! We found the longest we waited after using the Lineberty app and returning at the appropriate time, was 10 minutes. Compare that to the hour long wait for Winnie The Pooh (in the rain!) then you can see the obvious benefit!
The app is easy to download, easy to use and we personally didn’t have any issues with it at all.

Criticisms Of Lineberty Disneyland Paris.
Those who like to “wing it” and not plan ahead may not like the app. It can be disappointing when you see a character you are desperate to meet but unable to join the queue because you haven’t booked ahead using the app.
You can only hold a ticket for one character on the Lineberty app at a time. Therefore if you are on a solo visit, for example, you may find you cannot meet more than one character via the app per day.
The slots fill up in a matter of minutes, so you really do need to be on the ball. We were on the app a few minutes before the slots went live at 9.45am and we were still given times of up to five hours away. This wasn’t an issue for us, we were happy to return but if you have limited time in the park, this may be a disadvantage.
I’ve also heard some people have had issues getting the app to connect when outside of the Studios park. This isn’t always an issue for everyone but it is worth bearing in mind.
Tips To Meeting Your Favourite Characters Using Lineberty Disneyland Paris.
As I mentioned you can only book one character at a time. Therefore you’re going to want to download the Lineberty app on as many devices in your group as possible. This should maximise your chances of getting a slot. Both myself and my husband had the app. This meant I could try to get a slot for Minnie, while he tried to get a slot for Buzz. We were thankfully successful in securing our slots an hour apart so we knew we could see both characters.
Woody’s slot opens in the afternoon so it’s worth seeing if you can catch him by Cowboy Cookout in the Disneyland Park if you don’t want to wait. When we visited you could only see Spiderman, Buzz and Minnie by booking via the app. We personally found that Minnie and Buzz booked up the quickest so keep that in mind.

If you miss out on a slot, you can check back throughout the day to see if there’s any cancellations.
The app can be a bit temperamental and not always connect if you’re not in the Studios park. This isn’t always the case, and may depend on the reliability of your network. If you are desperate to see a particular character I would recommend ensuring you’re in the Studios park when you try and book your slot. We never failed to get a slot when we did, and suffered no network problems.
We made sure we were on the app a few minutes prior to the slots opening and constantly refreshed the meet and greet page until the characters came up as available.

I was a bit apprehensive prior to visiting Disneyland Paris about using the Lineberty app. Thankfully we found it easy to use, efficient and a great time saver!

Great tips post. I’m an annual pass holder at DLP and unfortunately I have nothing but criticism for the app is its never once connected for me and the staff are very unhelpful about it so the last 5 times we’ve been we haven’t been able to meet or greet any characters there 🙁 Lovely pics xx
Ah that’s a shame. We didn’t experience any problems at all but it did always give us times of 5 hours away! We didn’t mind though because it meant we could go and do something else and pop back 🙂
Sounds like a lot of rules around this app just to get to see a character. But as you said, it’s better than waiting an hour – especially if it’s raining – for a chance to visit with them. It could definitely benefit a family it seems like.
I have never been to DLP, so it is good that I see this type of post that gives tips on how to make the adventures easier at DLP. Thank you for sharing xx
Anything that cuts down ridiculously long queues has got to be worth a shot!
This seems like a handy application. Everything that saves time can be a good option for considering.
I have to admit I’ve not heard of this app before but it sounds like it could really be useful to anyone visiting Disney!
I remember queuing for over an hour and a bit trying to meet Jack Skellington a few years back so this sounds like a great alternative x
This sounds amazing, I just said to my hubby, we need to go again and use this app it sounds fantastic.
Oh wow well this is new!! I had no idea. We usually visit Disneyland Paris every year but didn’t go last year because we are going to Florida this year. thanks for letting me know about this.
Oh wow what a cool app and a great way to character meet and greet without any of the fuss xx
I can see how useful this could be for parents. Makes days more organised, cuts out long queues too! x
This sounds like a seriously great app! I’ll definitely keep it in mind for if I ever get round to taking the kids to Disney 🙂

I’ve never been to DisneyLand before but this app sounds great if you’re keen to meet particular characters x
