After the huge success of The Snowman, Carrot Productions have joined forces with Aardman Animations to bring us Wallace & Gromit’s Musical Marvels. As massive fans of Wallace and his faithful sidekick we couldn’t wait to see them in a brand new show. We were therefore delighted to be offered the chance to see the show in Liverpool.
Wallace & Gromit’s Musical Marvels – First Half
The first half of the show introduced us to The Picture House Orchestra and musical maestro Matthew Sharp. While channeling his inner Michael McIntyre, Matthew kept the audience entertained throughout. He communicated with Wallace & Gromit on the big screen in addition to displaying his impressive musical talent live on stage. The footage of him backstage leading to the live performance was perfectly executed and the kids thought he was hilarious.
The orchestra displayed their talents playing a variety of music including Bohemian Rhapsody which was incredible. During another impressive performance each member had the chance to showcase their expertise. The camera showed each section of the orchestra giving them their chance to shine.
We were treated to clips of Wallace & Gromit “backstage” preparing for their live debut of Wallace’s musical masterpiece, My Concerto in Ee Lad. There were plenty laughs and mishaps as you would expect from our favourite haphazard duo.
Wallace & Gromit’s Musical Marvels – Second Half
After the interval came the screening of the old classic The Wrong Trousers, accompanied by the live orchestra. The familiar theme tune had the audience clapping along. The Wrong Trousers is my all time favourite of all the Wallace & Gromit productions and hearing the music played live created a wonderful, unique experience. The musical accompaniment was so seamless that you almost forgot they were there.
Wallace & Gromit’s Musical Marvels – Summary
In conclusion all five of us loved the performance. It was the perfect opportunity to introduce young ones to a live orchestra. Our four year old (already a Wallace & Gromit fan!) sat entranced throughout!

I love the fact there is a live orchestra. I have always loved Wallace and Gromit, especially the theme tune!
We don’t often go to the theatre but I think this would be fun to watch. I used to love watching Wallace and Gromit, the wrong trousers when I was younger.
We are huge Wallace and Gromit friends, even my husband loves this silly pair!
