These bars are located on the treads along the whole length of groves of tyres. When tread bars are lower than 1.5 mm or nearly touching the grooves, it indicates worn out tyres. Reduction in the tread block height is the main indicator for the worn-out tyres and experienced people can easily judge the condition of tyres through visual examination. For those who may not know, grooves are deep ways along the circumference of the tyres between the raised ribs. These raised ribs are tread blocks. In case of excessive wear, the tread block may mesh with base surface of grooves indicating wear necessitating change of tyres.
Wheel Balancing and Alignment Faults

Frequent loss in tyre pressure may also be an indicator of tyre wear. A worn-out tyre will have poor rim grip or sealing resulting in escape of air from the tyres.
Skidding
If the tyres skid too often while using break or taking turns on smooth surfaces, it may be an indicator of worn out tyres.
