As we’re gradually coming out of lockdown this may mean a return to the workplace. Many of us have been working from home during lockdown, whilst others may have been furloughed. A return to the workplace may seem a daunting prospect after so long at home. Here are some tips to ensure you’re ready for the transition from home to office.
Update Your Wardrobe
If you’ve been away from the office for over a year, your wardrobe might be due an update. You may even find your work clothes no longer fit after so long away. If your work attire is looking a bit tired it might be time to invest in some new pieces. You could impress your colleagues by returning to the office with a sharp new suit.
Know The Guidelines
Although lockdown may be lifting, there are still many restrictions still in place. To prevent any anxiety or confusion about the rules, ensure you know the guidelines before you arrive back at work. Will social distancing be observed within the office? Will masks need to be worn indoors? These are questions that will need to be asked to ensure everything runs smoothly upon your return.
Consider Transport
If you travel to work by car or bike, your commute may not be much different from pre-lockdown. However if you rely on public transport it’s worth considering any changes that may have occurred. At present face masks are required upon public transport so ensure you don’t forget yours! It will also be worth checking the timetables haven’t altered since you used the service last.
Prepare Yourself Mentally
After months, or perhaps even longer, of working from home it is only natural to feel slightly apprehensive. Some people may be excited to return to a degree of a normality and see their colleagues in the flesh again which is great. However if you’re feeling more cautious, that is also completely understandable. To alleviate any worries you might find talking to your colleagues and/or superiors may help. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself and allow yourself time to make the adjustment.
