Last Friday we were excited to be invited down to The Mall Blackburn to see Santa in his Fantastical Post Office. We’ve been to events in Blackburn Mall before, including the Brickburn Paw Patrol Brick Trail and they’re always brilliantly organised so we knew we were in for a treat.
We head to The Mall Blackburn after school, full of excitement and festive cheer. The children settled down with a hot chocolate and wrote out their letters to Santa. After they had written their wish lists, we made our way over to the Fantastical Post Office entrance.

We were greeted at the entrance by a friendly elf who guided them inside the letter sorting office. Inside was a cosy, welcoming room where post master elf, Baubles, sent off each letter to Santa. Each child was also given a certificate to show they had been awarded a place on the nice list.
When the big moment arrived and it was time to see Santa, my children were awestruck. Bearing more than a passing resemblance to Richard Attenborough in the Miracle on 34th Street, this Santa was clearly the real deal. As you would expect he was brilliant with the kids and spent time engaging with each child.

The whole experience was just magical. From the tree to the toys and decorations, it was easily the best shopping mall grotto we have EVER been in. It was theatrical and fun and the attention to detail ensured everyone had a fantastical time. It was unhurried and lasted 15 minutes which is much longer than a lot of grottos we’ve visited in the past.

I visited the Mall again last week on Black Friday to get some bargains and I just loved all the lights and decorations. They had a lovely Gingerbread Man theme and they definitely added to the festive cheer. You can catch Santa in his Fantastical Post Office on selected dates up until Christmas Eve. To avoid disappointment you can book now by heading over to The Mall Blackburn website.
Disclaimer : We were offered complimentary tickets but as always views are our own.

I’ve seen a few photos of this on social media and I have to confess to being a little envious that we don’t have something like this near us.
Ah this has warmed my heart! What a lovely experience for your kids, I still remember going to meet father christmas as a kid, I would have loved a whole experience like this though – merry christmas!
This is such a great idea. Its such a simple thing but honestly, would make such a different to kids. And honestly, anything to encourage old fashioned letter writing!
Oh how lovely . Honestly things like this really make the magic come to life at Xmas doesn’t it , and my god that Santa looks like the real thing! 🙂
Aw, look at those happy hopeful faces. I love this time of year. Looks like Blackburn Mall has done a superb job with that Post Office.
This sounds like a truly magical experience for the kids . How lovely to have been part of it , the kids look very happy.
This seems like such a magical experience for the kids. I think things like this are so special at Christmas time, it makes it all the more magical.
Awww this looks like such a wonderful experience. I just know that my daughter would this.
This sounds lovely. It reminds me of when I was a kid at Christmas, when Safeways supermarkets (remember them?!) would run a Christmas card scheme. You could decorate the card with stickers if I recall rightly, and then write a message to Santa and get a reply back. Makes me feel so nostalgic thinking about it.
This seems like a really fun and exciting day for the kids! I know my nieces and nephews would love this!
Oh wow how fab does this look. You all look like you had an amazing time with lots of Christmas fun xx
