Halloween seems to be getting bigger and bigger each year. When I was young it wasn’t nearly as huge as it is now. Here in the North West we’re spoiled for choice when it comes to Halloween days out. These are just a few we’re looking forward to this October.
Halloween Days Out : Tatton Park
There’s a couple of things going on at National Trust’s Tatton Park this Halloween. Head to the farm on 27th or 28th of October and as well as enjoying a short guided tour of the farm, you can pick your own pumpkin fresh from the field.
Between the 27th and 31st October Tatton Park are host to A Haunted Halloween at the Old Hall. You can have a tour of reputedly one of the most haunted buildings in England, and the kids can enjoy crafts, story telling and a children’s trail, along with other spooky activities.
Halloween Days Out: East Lancashire Railway Halloween Ghost Train
The ever popular East Lancashire Railway are running their own Halloween Ghost Train. Beginning and ending at Bury Bolton Street Station, you will be joined on the “haunted” train journey by various spooky characters. The kids (and adults if they wish!) can dress up in their scariest outfits and take part in some Halloween crafts before the train ride. They will even be treated to a Halloween goody bag at the end of the journey.
The trains run on the 26th, 27th and 31st October with four different times each night. The later the train, the scarier the journey will be!
Halloween Days Out : Halloween Spookfest – Cockfields Farm
Cockfields Farm in Ashton-Under-Lyne is having it’s own Pumpkin Festival. You can choose and carve your own pumpkin as well as taking part in other Halloween themed crafts. There’s the usual hands-on animal activities and even Halloween shows for the family to enjoy.
Halloween Days Out: Knowsley Safari Park
Kids go for half price this October half term so it’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy Knowsley Safari Park and their halloween activities. They will have carving stations open throughout the day in the Halloween Activity Tent for creating those perfect spooky pumpkins. If your kids are still a little too young for carving, there’s also mask making inside the tent.
Halloween Days Out : Bents Garden and Home
We love Bents and their famous spectacular Christmas displays, but we need to get Halloween out of the way first!
A fab alternative to the traditional carving of the pumpkins, Bent’s children’s team will be on hand to help them create a unique pumpkin using glitter and paint. This event runs from Thursday 25th to Sunday 28th October 2018 and costs £6 each.
Bents are also home to a Wizarding School this Halloween! The Hocus Pocus event is where children aged 3 to 10 can enjoy wizard themed games and activities. This event runs from Monday 29th to Wednesday 31st October 2018 and costs £15 per child.

We’ve been wanting to go to Tatton Park and Knowsley for a while – Halloween sounds like a great excuse!
We are due to go Pumpkin picking soon and we have the whole family over for a Hallowe’en party. Usually we don’t do much but this time we thought it might be nice to play some games and have some halloween treats.
My children have already conned me into buying new costumes… We will definitely be going trick or treating, but probably not much else this year
Halloween has to be up there behind Christmas for us as favourite festivities! Got to love a good dress up session!
Halloween has always been one of my favorite event since when I was a kid even up until now that I’m all grown up. We didn’t have a Wizarding School back then, I would have loved it!

Halloween isn’t really a thing here in Australia just yet, I love seeing US and UK celebrations though! It always looks fun!
I remember just having a turnip to crave when I was a kid as pumpkins were not a thing. There is so much to do nowadays and its fantastic, we have definitely upped our Halloween game over the last load of years as well
