Flying with a baby or even a toddler can be a daunting experience. You may worry that everyone is going to stare at you if your baby happens to start crying, and that it’s sometimes impossible to get them settled. If this sounds like you, then you have to know that you are not alone. So many people are in the same situation as you are right now, but there are things that you can do to try and make things easier on yourself.

Book A Direct Flight

If you are the parent of a baby or even a young child then you have to make sure that you keep the number of connecting flights to a minimum. Landing is what normally puts pressure on your child’s ears, and this can cause them discomfort to the point that it leaves them screaming on the plane. If you have a direct flight, then you only need to worry about this once. Plus, the less time you can spend in transit, the less chance there is of your child having a tantrum. If you have to book your flight with a connection, then ensure that you leave yourself plenty of time between each one. Two hours or even three is ideal. You don’t want to be running between planes and if you leave this amount of time, then you know that you’ll have enough time to grab a bite to eat if possible as well.

Visit The Restroom

Ideally, you need to make sure that you board the plane with your child in a fresh diaper. If you are unable to do this, then make sure that you visit the restroom one last time before you board your plane. If you can, you need to double up on your diaper cream and put your child in an additional diaper too. This will give them much more leak protection. If you are travelling with a toddler and they are in the middle of potty training, then you’ll want to give them one last potty break.  If you need some products that will make your life easier then check out this Toddler Review site.

Pre-Boarding

You may think that you should skip out on things like pre-boarding if possible as it will ensure that you spend as little time on the plane as possible. That being said, being situated on a flight gives you more time to buckle your child in and it also gives you way more time to deal with everything that may come your way. Pre-boarding helps to make the flight easier, and it also helps other passengers too, so keep that in mind if possible.

Buy Another Seat

It’s recommended that you buy another seat for your child. Children who are under the age of 2 will normally fly for free if they sit on your knee, but the problem is that you may get irritable. If you buy an extra seat, then this will give your family much more room to spread out and you may even find that you are able to make the journey more relaxing.
