The summer holidays are now in full swing! With three kids to keep entertained you can often find me outnumbered and overwhelmed and being stuck in the house is just no fun! Therefore we try and get out as much as possible during the holidays and we’re always looking for new things to do.

We’re lucky in the North West to have so many great towns with plenty to offer families this summer. Here’s just a few ideas to keep the kids entertained.

Brickburn Paw Patrol Brick Trail

The Brickburn Paw Patrol brick trail, organised by Blackburn Business Improvement District (BID), is coming to Blackburn for Summer 2019 and it’s the first of its kind in the world! 21 of our favourite characters and buildings from the show will be built by BRICKLIVE from brightly coloured toy bricks. They’ll be placed around the town centre between 23rd August and 1st September 2019.

My daughter will no doubt love spotting all her favourite characters around the town, with the pups ranging in size from 75cm to 120cm high. We particularly can’t wait to see Marshall’s Fire Truck using 160,000 bricks!

More details on the trail will be released in the next few weeks, so you can search for #brickburn on social media for updates. You can also check out www.blackburnbid.co.uk for more information.

Air Unlimited Burnley

Air Unlimited trampoline park is a great way to let the kids burn off some energy! Plus they are offering Family Airtime every day throughout the holidays. This is an online only offer and prices for one hours are £4 for under 4s, £7 for children five years and over and £2.50 for accompanying adults. During the holidays they are also offering two hours for £10. You can book online at www.airunlimited.co.uk

There’s also a brand new Mr Whippy ice cream machine. Give me all the sherbet!

Elmer the Patchwork Elephant Show at King George’s Hall

Based on the classic children’s book series by David McKee that celebrates its 30th birthday this year, Elmer the Patchwork Elephant Show is a celebration of individuality, and the power of laughter! I loved Elmer as a kid growing up and my own children are similarly enchanted by our favourite bright and colourful elephant. We therefore can’t wait to see the show.

Elmer The Patchwork Elephant Show features 21 loveable puppets and tells the tale of an elephant that stands out – both with his patchwork-coloured skin and his sense of humour – but ultimately realises that his friends have always valued his unique characteristics. The show’s subtle message that it is always best to be yourself, and combined with the vibrant colour and cheeky humour of the main character, Elmer is a great show for children of all ages.

Elmer is heading to King George’s Hall in Blackburn on Monday 19th August (2pm) and Tuesday 20th August (11am). Tickets start at £12.50 with discounts for groups of 10+. You can get your tickets online here. For more information see the Elmer the Patchwork Elephant Show Facebook page.
