Our Post Lockdown Bucket List – A Family Wish List

Life in a lockdown can be rather a tedious one. Not a day goes by that we don’t hear “I wish we could go to…” or “I wish we could just…”  Unfortunately unless those wishes can be granted within these four walls, they’ll have to be saved for another day. We are currently entering week four of lock down and are greatly missing the outside world.

One of the ways we’re looking after our children’s mental health during lockdown is creating our own post lockdown bucket list. We love bucket lists but this one is a little bit different. Every time we wish we could could go somewhere or see someone, we jot it down. When all this is finally over and we have the freedom to go wherever we want, we’re going to work our way through the list. Some will be small easily achieved goals whereas others may require more time and planning (and money!)

I thought my blog was a good a place as any to write the bucket list so far and we can update it whenever we need to. We can also have fun documenting all the items we’ve managed to tick off!

  1. Visit Gran and Grandad
  2. Invite the cousins round to play
  3. Go to the park and play on the swings
  4. Invite the children next door to play in the garden
  5. Go back to Disneyland
  6. Go to the trampoline park
  7. Go to the cinema
  8. Have a day out with the cousins
  9. Go out for tea as a family
  10. See the deer at Dunham Massey
  11. Bike ride with friends
  12. Go swimming
  13. Go to the beach
  14. Go to the theatre
  15. Go to London as we had planned and had to cancel
  16. Go to a theme park
  17. Go to a toy shop
  18. Go to karate class again
  19. Go to the zoo
  20. Go for a picnic in the park

As you can see it’s quite a long list already! It’s the small things that make me smile as we know we’ll not take them for granted any more. Popping round to see the grandparents, a trip to the park and having a picnic will be so much more appreciated than they previously have been.

  • What an awesome bucket list - I have to admit I've been thinking of a few things I would love to do once lockdown is over, you have given me some more ideas as well so thank you!

  • I think our list is just the simple things we used to take for granted like popping in to the shops to do shopping or getting kids a snack in the cafe or having a cuppa with the girls when kids are at school. Hoping life will get back to normal soon.

  • That is a fantastic list. I think we will be joining you and adding many of those to our very own post lockdown bucket list.

  • These are great ideas for after the lockdown. My wife and I rarely go anywhere, so if we can do something or go somewhere that's inexpensive, I'm all for it! May have to take the grand kids along too!

  • Awww this is such a great ideas of things to look forward too. We are so excited to see our wider family again and my daughter cannot wait to start her ice skating lessons again.

  • What a lovely post to read, it is lovely to have something positive to focus on and look forward to once this is over

  • Loving the idea of putting together a post lockdown bucket list, a wonderful way to plan for the future and keep spirits up

  • There are so many small things that I took for granted that I want to do like going to see my nan, hugging my friends and things like that. To be honest I didn't have too much planned as we'd just started renovating our new house when lockdown started so my main thing will be getting that finished so we can move in x

  • I also made a list of things I want to do, number one is visiting my family in Germany. Hope you get to start crossing of some points soon!

  • I'm sure the list will grow quite a bit by the time we are out of lockdown. So many things we'd love to do too and many are the simplest like seeing relatives and friends.
