Spring is upon us and we are already starting to enjoy our garden. When we bought our house we knew we wanted a garden that not only we could enjoy, but the children too.
Here are our tips on getting your garden ready for summer.
Add lights
Adding lights to your garden is a simple but effective way of brightening up the whole space. Lights attached to fence panels or hung across the garden can add a twinkling glow that looks especially lovely in the evening.

Get planting
Nothing brightens up a garden like colourful flowers. My husband and I aren’t exactly professionals when it comes to gardening but even pot plants and hanging baskets can make a big difference. If, like us, you lack the confidence to landscape your garden you could always look into getting a gardener. That way you have someone else to do the hard work, lifting and other garden services.

Cut Back Any Overgrown Trees
Trees can make a beautiful feature in a garden but they can become overgrown, particularly in trees such as willows. Try searching for a tree surgeon in St Albans to ensure the tree is kept in the best condition without too much overgrowth.

Paint existing furniture / fencing
Revamping your old patio furniture by cleaning, painting and/or spraying can instantly brighten up a tired looking garden. Similarly giving your fences and shed a lick of paint can be an inexpensive way of adding a dash of colour to your outdoor space.

Add an area for the kids to play
Concrete isn’t the most child friendly of options, so it would be handy to have a more child friendly area. If grass isn’t an option, play bark can be a great alternative. It’s safe for children and can help soften any falls.
