If you’re anything like me, as soon as the kids are back at school, there’s only one thing on my mind – Christmas! I know people will be cringing and shrinking in horror at the mention of the C word, but with three kids to buy for and entertain, we have to be organised!
One thing we are every excited for this year is attending a performance of The Snowman. Carrot Productions are bringing us The Snowman Tour and it gives us a special opportunity to see the beloved film on a big screen, complete with a live orchestra. And the best thing is, it’s heading to a venue near you! There are venues nationwide but for my fellow North West parents, there are quite a few places to choose from!
The tour is hitting Chester, Blackburn, Warrington and Liverpool throughout the month of December, with the option of an afternoon or evening showing. It’s also heading to Buxton and Sheffield amongst others; a full list of venues and times can be found on the Carrot Productions website.
We were torn between our two most local showings. We had the option of the stunning Liverpool Cathedral or convenient Warrington Parr Hall but in the end opted for Warrington. The kids finish school for Christmas that day, so an evening performance will surely get them all in the festive spirit!
My children are massive fans of The Snowman and we watch it every Christmas, but none of them have been lucky enough to experience a live orchestra so I can’t wait to see their reactions! Not only will it be a fantastic chance to see and hear some of the top musicians in the UK, there will also be a visit from the Snowman himself! Audience members will also be treated to a solo performance of Walking In The Air which I personally can’t wait for. It’s just one of those songs that instantly gets you in the festive spirit.
As an additional festive treat, certain venues will also be host to a performance of David Litchfield’s The Bear and the Piano. This wonderful book is a big hit in our house, and with a musical score by Daniel Whibley and narration by Joanna Lumley, the kids are sure to love this production too. We’ll be looking forward to seeing this at the Warrington performance!
Other venues will feature a world exclusive of ‘A Donkey’s Tale’, the heart warming story of Dillon, the donkey with a dream. For a full list of venues, and to find out whether your nearest venue is showing ‘The Bear and the Piano’ or ‘A Donkey’s Tale’, then you can visit the Carrot Productions website.
Tickets are on sale now and are sure to sell quickly. The show last year was featured in the national press and I read some fantastic reviews about the experience.

I was offered complimentary tickets for the upcoming production for myself and family in exchange for an honest review. As always, views are my own.
