I have to admit, prior to watching a documentary on the Lego House, I’d never actually heard of Billund. I was aware of several things to do in Copenhagen with kids, but Billund was a bit of a mystery. Billund is situated in Southern Denmark and after a bit of research we decided it was a place we’d definitely love to visit. We spent five nights in Billund and had a wonderful time. There’s so much to do, especially if you’re bringing children. Here’s just a few things to do in Billund with kids.
One of the more obvious things to do in Billund with kids is a visit to Legoland. As the home of LEGO, Legoland in Billund is something special. We were hugely impressed with our visit. We have previously visited Legoland in Windsor during the summer holidays and it was something of an endurance challenge! It was just so busy! Legoland Billund was much quieter in comparison and made the whole day much more enjoyable.
The LEGO House in Billund is the ultimate treat for any LEGO fan. LEGO was created in Billund and the Lego House is the ultimate celebration of the small bricks. The building itself looks like a LEGO creation and inside there’s floors full of fun. I wrote about in more detail in my LEGO House Billund review and it was definitely our favourite of all the things to do in Billund with kids. When visiting the LEGO House eating at the Mini Chef LEGO restaurant is a must. From the robots delivering your food to the LEGO shaped serving boxes, it’s a fantastic experience.
We stayed at Lalandia during our stay in Billund but you can also visit as non residents. There’s so much to do including climbing walls, trampolines and soft play. There’s places to eat and relax and entertainment in the evenings so you could easily spend a full day there.
Within Lalandia is the Aquadome Water Park which was a real highlight for the kids. There’s various pools from small toddler pools to larger deeper pools to splash around in. There’s slides, a thermal outdoor pool and a lazy river to keep everyone entertained. There’s also a restaurant within the Aquadome so don’t need to rush back for school. Of all the things to do with kids in Billund, Aquadome was up there as one of our favourites.
The neighbouring town of Vejle is also worth a visit. We hopped on a bus right outside Lalandia that took us directly to Vejle. The streets were pretty and lined with quirky little shops. We also visited the Ecolarium Science museum which was brilliant, and free too!
There’s a bus that runs during the summer months that stops at all the main tourist attractions. However the weather was so nice we chose to walk to LEGO House. The walk took us through the Sculpture Park. It was a lovely green space with a walkway that led us past several diverse sculptures. It was a lovely walk and the perfect blend of nature and art.
There are so many great things to do in Billund with kids. It’s easy to spend a few days here without running out of things to do. Have we missed anything? Let us know!

It looks like there is a lot to do and lots of fun to be had, I have not been to Denmark before but it is somewhere we are looking at visiting
Billund sounds like a great place to go with the family. I love the variety of things they have for kids to do and experience.
WOW! So many fun things to do with the kids in Billund. I know my grand kids would love it!
I lived in Denmark for over a year and it is such an incredible place, my husband is Danish and we would love to take out daughter to Billund. Legoland would be top of our list!
Lego House looks and sounds a lot like the LEGOLAND we have here. It's one of our favorite places!
Looks like so many things to do and I love the Legoland there. The dinasour is just pretty impressive. We have one Legoland in our neighboring country, Malaysia. It was so much smaller than this.
I really want to take the kids to legoland in billund and it is on the list this year
I remember being quite amazed that Lego originated from Denmark, as it was something I hadn't even considered. But I didn't know the name of Billund at all. What a great destination for a family trip, the Lego stuff looks fabulous, and I love anything like the sculpture park. Great for all.
So many great sounding things to do, Legoland especially, it's been years since I've been to the Windsor one x
Looks like fun adventures!! I would love the sculpture park, my son would love the water park.
