Aquadome Billund Review : Lalandia Waterpark, Denmark

When planning things to do during our stay in Denmark, I did my research to find the best activities to do with children. There were the obvious places such as Lego House and Legoland but we were all pleased to hear the Aquadome inside Lalandia was listed as a great activity for all the family. We had already booked our accommodation at Lalandia so we were excited to hear its onsite waterpark was such a hit with visitors. This is our honest Aquadome Billund review.

Aquadome Billund : Location

The Aquadome Waterpark is situated inside Lalandia in Billund, Denmark. You don’t need to stay onsite to visit Lalandia or the Aquadome. During the summer months there’s a free City Shuffle Bus which stops at all the main tourist spots within Billund. So if you’re staying at Legoland or one of the main hotels, you can hope on the bus and be dropped off right outside Lalandia.

Aquadome Billund : Price and opening hours

If you’re staying at Lalandia you don’t need to pay to enter the Aquadome Waterpark as its included in the cost of your stay. You are given wristbands on arrival at your accommodation to wear for the duration of your stay and your wristband grants you access to the Aquadome.

If you’re visiting as a day guest it costs 280 DKK per adult and 230 DKK for children aged 3-12. Children under three years old can go for free. It’s worth noting that ALL under threes are required to wear a swim nappy, whether or not they are potty trained.

The Aquadome Waterpark is open between 10am and 6pm Sunday to Thursday, and 10am until 8pm Friday and Saturday.

Aquadome Billund : Changing Rooms and Lockers

We found the male and female changing rooms to be well signposted but couldn’t see where we could go to change as a family. After having a look around we found the family changing rooms upstairs with the male rooms (the female changing room was on the same level as the pool area).

We had no trouble accessing a family changing room and found them to be a good size for all five of us. There were lockers right outside which could be locked using your wristband. So much better than messing about with £1 coins!

Aquadome Billund : Rides

The main selling point of Aquadome Waterpark (to my kids anyway!) was the slides. There were plenty to choose from! Some were more tame than others, and some required the use of inflatables but my eldest two loved every ride they went on. There was only one ride that they couldn’t go on – The Turbo Racer. The minimum height was 150cm which my eldest doesn’t quite meet yet.

The boys’ favourite slide was the Wild River, which started and ended indoors but also went outside. They were also big fans of The Twister, which as it sounds, spins you around!

Aquadome Billund : Pools

My youngest is only four and is still too small for the main rides. That didn’t stop her having fun though! There were plenty of pools to choose from.

The activity pool was a big hit with all the kids. Here they had an obstacle course, basketball nets and balls and dolphins to climb on top off! The pool wasn’t too deep so my daughter could just about touch the floor which was perfect considering the activities.

The cave pool was atmospheric and constantly changed colour. Here you could dive under the water and see tropical fish in the underwater aquarium. The boys loved this! You could also dive underwater and see people walking around Lalandia. The kids were always thrilled when they received a wave!

There was also a wave pool which is always a big hit. The water depth becomes deeper the further out you swim so you can decide whether you relax in the shallow end or head into the deeper end (160cm) to enjoy the waves.

There were two children’s pools to choose from. One was aimed at younger children and had buckets and water tables to play with. The other was a little deeper and had four children’s slides. Our daughter loved these. It was the perfect pool to bridge the gap between the baby pool and the slides aimed at older children and adults.

There was a family spa pool which was half indoors and half outdoors. It was 38 degrees and had bubbles – it was heaven! It was easily my favourite part of the whole waterpark! The weather was gorgeous while we were there so we all enjoyed the bubbles in the sunshine.

Another big hit was the lazy river. There were plenty of inflatable rings to lounge in as the gentle tide of the water pulled you along the circular river trail.

The Splash Playground was a big hit with our daughter. It was a huge water adventure playground with slides and activities to play on.

Aquadome Billund : Food

We didn’t eat within the Aquadome as there’s plenty of choice when you go out into Lalandia itself. However there was a food court where you could choose fromAsian, Italian and American dishes.

Aquadome Billund : Summary

We loved the Aquadome Waterpark and visited it three out of the four days we spent in Billund. We went and explored in the mornings and then relaxed in the waterpark in the afternoon. The only place I could compare it to is the various pool areas at the Center Parcs, Aquadome Billund was bigger, and in our opinion, better!

We’d definitely recommend it, whether or not your staying at Lalandia.
