Welcome to our Inventions Disneyland Paris character dining review!
Our main priority after booking Disneyland Paris was to meet as many characters as possible. With three little ones we knew the easiest way (without queuing for hours) was to book character dining. We paid extra for the premium meal plan so the meals would be included which ended up being a massive saving. I did my research and one of the Disneyland tips was to prebook restaurants 60 days before travelling so we wouldn’t miss out. We did this and booked Inventions, Cafe Mickey, Auberge de Cendrillon and Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show.
I’m glad we did as we visited Disneyland Paris at Christmas and so it was really busy. We would have struggled to get the meals and experiences we wanted if we hadn’t pre-booked.
We decided as Inventions was located inside our hotel (Disneyland Hotel) we would eat there for our first night.
Our sitting was at 6.15pm and we were met by pleasant and attentive staff who showed us to our seats. Included in our plan was the buffet style dining, and a soft drink for all five of us. We were informed if we wanted to have extra drinks, they would need to be paid for.
The meal within Inventions is buffet style, so you can go and help yourself from a huge variety of dishes, including some truly gorgeous desserts. There was everything from traditional French fare (snails anyone?) to burgers, chicken, vegetables and pasta. All five of us managed to find food we liked. I particularly enjoyed a beef dish which was delicious! The deserts were equally as enticing and we certainly managed to get our money’s worth!
During our meal we were visited at our table by several characters. I believe they can change from day to day, but during our meal we met Eeyore, Tigger, Mickey, Geppetto from Pinocchio, Goofy and Pluto. I was worried that the character interaction would be a bit rushed but it wasn’t at all. Pluto was brilliant with my son when he noticed he was wearing a jumper with his face on, and Tigger was extremely entertaining. The interactions didn’t seem rushed or forced and the staff ensured that the characters visited every table.
The only slight negative I can say, is it wasn’t overly relaxing! I found myself rushing when visiting the buffet because I didn’t want to miss the characters visiting our table, and my husband missed the visit from Goofy while grabbing a desert for our daughter. However that’s what happens when it’s a buffet style restaurant.
It’s worth mentioning that the actual restaurant itself is beautiful. We ate here for breakfast too and the view from our breakfast table was stunning.
It’s not the cheapest place to eat and obviously you are paying for the characters rather than the food, but we knew that would be the case. Out of all the places we ate, Inventions was my son’s favourite character dining experience. We would all definitely recommend it. It was the perfect start to a magical trip.

Awww!! What gorgeous photos of your little ones. We've not been to inventions - we decided to wing-it on our 1st visit and not do any pre planned meals. I really want to go through. Is there a time limit on your sitting, or do you just finish when you are ready?
I think this is a great way to catch some of the characters without having to queue too much x
The characters are fab! They really pay attention at all times and are so kind and considerate to every person they interact with.
I love that the characters come in, what a treat. It all looks so amazing and magical!
what a good idea for character meals - expensive but handy to avoid the queues. I bet your children were thrilled to bits - hope the rest of the visit to Disneyland Paris was wonderful too.
Oh I’m so jealous, what an amazing experience
We are staying here in June and the girls are so excited! Do any of the characters appear at breakfast time?
We did the breakfast for the same reason and I found it stressful too. But not as stressful as having to wait in line for hours. Now I get it a bit more as it was our first visit I think I may look at pre booking meet and greets which we discovered was possible when we were there.
why go to disney if you're not going to have lunch with goofy lol looks brilliant though and the kids look like they loved it x
This sounds so magical! What a great way to meet lots of characters in one go. I would definitely consider doing this if we took the kids to Disneyland, it’s such a great idea xx
