It’s been a long time dream of my husband and I to visit every state in America. Our plan is to wait until the kids have grown up and when it’s just us two, we’re going to hire an RV and go on the ultimate road trip across the states. Seeing as our youngest is only four that dream seems a very distant one!
In the meantime there are plenty of states we’d like to visit with the children. I want to take them to the Grand Canyon, to Disney Word and the Kennedy Space Center. I want to be with them the first time they clap eyes on the Statue Of Liberty.
We’ve therefore created our own US State bucket list to add to our ever growing family travel bucket lists.
Here’s just a few of the states we want to visit as a family.
We visited New York on our honeymoon over ten years ago now and fell in love with the place. Since then we have been itching to go back. It’s a place I’d like to save until our youngest is a little older so she can truly appreciate the beauty of the Big Apple. I want to take them to the Empire State Building and the Top Of The Rock. I want to get the ferry over to Liberty Island so they can see first hand the magnificence of the Statue of Liberty.
I was pregnant with our eldest son during our trip to New York. I love the image of all three of our children standing in front of the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center. There’s something poetic about the image of our family, now complete, standing in the the exact spot where we stood on our honeymoon at the start of our married lives.
One place the kids really want to go to is Florida. After our amazing trip to Disneyland Paris last year, we’ve all been bitten by the Disney bug. We would love to take them to Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Studios. It’s definitely on my list of places I’d love to visit before I turn 40.
However holidays to Florida offer so much more than just theme parks. The Kennedy Space Center would be a massive hit with the kids, but also my husband! They would also love to see The National Aviation museum.
We’d love to explore in an RV the Everglades and Biscayne National Parks and see Clearwater beach. Honestly there’s so much we’d love to see and do in Florida and it’s definitely a place I’d love to take the children.
It may be one of the smaller states, but New Hampshire is a place we’d love to visit as a family. We’ve seen pictures of the beautiful scenery and pretty towns and knew we had to add it to our bucket list. We’d love to take in Mount Washington and Flume Gorge. When it comes to places to visit with kids, they would love the children’s museum and we’d all really enjoy a visit to Story Land. There seems to be a variety of theme parks and fun activities that the kids would adore. Santa’s Village looks amazing and the Ice Castles in North Woodstock look incredible.
Similar to Florida, we would also love to experience Disneyland, Legoland and Universal Studios in California. We’d like to take in the natural beauty of Lake Shasta, Tahoe and Yosemite National Park. Balboa Park in San Diego looks amazing, as does the famous San Diego Zoo. We’d love to see the famous Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco and take the kids to see Alcatraz.
Being the second largest state in America, it’s no surprise there’s so much to see and do in Texas. We’d love to see the famous Space Center that hosts NASA’s Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center and Mission Control for manned flights into space.
We’d love the kids to explore the Children’s Museum and the Natural Bridge Caverns look right up my son’s street! Lake Travis looks beautiful and Volente Beach Resort seems like great fun. My kids are never happier than when they’re on a water slide!
These are just a few of the places we would love to visit with the kids. I’m constantly adding new places to our travel bucket lists! Let us know what’s on yours!

I don't consider it my bucket list but I also want to see all of the states (but not all in one trip). The one I most want to go to is Hawaii. My real travel bucket list contains places outside of the US.
I'm afraid to say I've never been to the USA. I'd love to see the autumn colours in New England
I have never been to the USA before, But I would love to visit Florida and go to Disneyworld and The Space Center
I've never been to the US but these states would definitely be on my list too!
Haven't been to the USA in years but really want to visit again. Top of my USA bucket list is Florida with the kids and New York to visit family who live there.
This is a great list. I really want to go to Nashville
I would also love to go to Florida! I'd love to visit Disney and explore a bit more. I've not given much thought to travelling the USA so this was a really interesting read for me.
