How to Nurture Your Child’s Creativity

Being creative is something we all have, so letting our child pick up these same skills will help develop their confidence, critical thinking and decision making skills. It’s an integral part of each child’s development that can come naturally through a range of methods. Here are some ways you can nurture that creativity, as recommended by this boarding school in Birmingham.

Explore water play

To try something effective, you could try water play with your child. From toddler age this is a good place to start giving your child the understanding of different textures, feelings and the understanding of liquid form. You can also add other materials to the water, like sand or food colouring, to see how your child reacts.

Give your child the freedom to make choices

A child that can make decisions freely is going to feel a lot more comfortable in being curious. Where you can you should aim to give your child the floor and let them come up with decisions for the day. Stuck in the house on a rainy weekend? Let your child think of some ideas of things you can do together that are fun and creative.

Keep your child guessing

Making time for surprises and activities will give your child a lot more excitement about what’s to come. It’s a good time for your child to feel happy about surprises and it also encourages your child to think for themselves and try to come up with creative answers. Revolve it all back to sparking creativity and curiosity.

Discover the great outdoors

Heading out for walks and other outdoor adventures will give your child the chance to unwind and think freely in their mind. They also have the chance to talk to you with no one else around and express their feelings. It’s a good bonding exercise as well as teaching your child about being naturally creative.
