Enjoy A Roarsome Day Out at Brickburn This Summer With Brickosaurs

After the huge success of the Paw Patrol trail back in 2019, Brickburn is back for 2021. This year Blackburn BID (Business Improvement District) are again funding another fantastic free event for families in the heart of Blackburn. This years Brickburn combines the two things that most kids love, building bricks and dinosaurs, to create Brickosaurs

We headed to Blackburn yesterday to see the dinosaurs and indulge in a bit of back to school shopping! We parked at The Mall because we know it’s centrally located and a great base to explore the town centre.

I downloaded the Experience Blackburn app which showed us the locations of all the dinosaurs but there are guides you can collect on the day. If you head to the Ask Me point you can collect one and have a photo taken at the selfie wall!

The kids had a great time exploring the town centre and the different shops. There were a variety of different dinosaurs within The Mall itself, whilst others were located a bit further afield (all in easy walking distance.)

Venues include:

  • Trespass, The Mall
  • Rhode Island Coffee, The Mall
  • Victoria Court, The Mall
  • New Look, The Mall
  • Blackburn Market – mini trail
  • Ainsworth Street (rear of Boots), The Mall
  • Primark, The Mall
  • Grays Outfitters, Northgate
  • Morrisons
  • Blackburn Cathedral, Darwen Street / Cathedral Square
  • Hobkirks Sewing Machines, Darwen Street
  • King George’s Hall, Northgate
  • Blackburn Library, Town Hall Street

It’s a great event that supports the town centre. There’s a mini trail within Blackburn Market and we had a lovely potter around supporting local businesses.

The library had their very own dinosaur to see, along with a display of dinosaur themed books for the children to enjoy.

We always love going inside Blackburn Cathedral as it’s such a lovely building and the volunteers are always so friendly, especially with the kids. The kids loved exploring the beautiful building and finding Patrick the Parasaurolophus!

Each dinosaur had a fact sheet to help answer the questions on the trail sheet. We had a great time guessing how many bricks it took to build each creation!

The Brickosaurs trail will be running from the 20th August until 1st September 2021, making it the perfect end of summer day out. We had such a fun day out.
