Have A Paw-Some Time at Brickburn : Paw Patrol Comes To Blackburn!

Both my younger two children have always loved Paw Patrol. My son even had a Paw Patrol themed party for his fifth birthday! His younger sister also loves the show and has plenty of Adventure Bay themed toys to play with. We were therefore excited to hear all about Brickburn.

What is Brickburn?

Brickburn, brought to us by BRICKLIVE, is running from the 23rd August to 1st September 2019 and is the world’s first Paw Patrol brick trail. Not the first in the UK, the first in the WORLD! Amazing!

Throughout Blackburn town centre there are 21 models to find, including all our favourite characters from the hit Nick Jr show. There’s also a Lookout Tower, Marshall’s fire truck and a head-in-the-hole wall, all made from tiny bricks. Each of the models has a fact sheet which help the children answer the questions on their trail sheets.

The PAW Patrol brick trail will be available 10am to 5pm each day, and 10.30am to 4pm on Bank Holiday Monday and Sundays. Some models will be available beyond this time, depending on individual venue opening times.

Brickburn : Our Experience

Our trail began with the Mall shopping centre. We found a spot on the multi-storey carpark and made our way to the Ask Me Point to collect our trail maps. The friendly staff handed us two quizzes. Both had a map of where to find the models, but each had two different sets of questions. The first had questions all about the tv show and so was a test of our Paw Patrol knowledge – no surprises that we aced that one! The second asked questions that could only be answered after finding each of the models. And so our trail began!

The first few models were situated within the Mall, either in shop windows, or actually within the shops themselves. There are also six kittens hidden around Blackburn Market. For the other models we had to venture slightly further afield.

One of the models we found at King George’s Hall, where we had visited earlier this week to watch Elmer The Patchwork Elephant Show. Across the road at the library we were excited to find another. Thanks to Mighty Papa Bear’s expert map reading skills we also managed to find the models slightly further out of town at the retail parks.

One particularly nice spot was Blackburn Cathedral. One of the models was inside the cathedral and the building itself was beautiful. It’s not a building we would necessarily have ventured inside of ordinarily, but we were so glad we did.

We returned our trail maps to the Ask Me Point where our journey had begun. All returned quizzes are entered into a draw to be in with a chance of winning £100 of high street vouchers.

Brickburn Summary

We all had a great day. We’re not overly familiar with Blackburn but the town centre is lovely. It’s clean, tidy and all the shopping centre has all the big name shops you would expect. The trail adds that bit of extra fun to your shopping trip! Our children usually moan their way around shops, but this time they were keen to explore the town in their hunt for models.

We’d definitely recommend families to visit Blackburn Town Centre, especially while models are still there.
