As a mum of a little girl, I’m passionate about equality and empowerment. I want her to grow up knowing she can be whoever she wants to be. Break those glass ceilings. Smash those gender stereotypes. However it’s not only our girls who are at risk of being stereotyped. Our boys are too. “Man up.” “Boys will be boys.” “Boys can’t play with dolls.”
Here’s to a world where children can just be children.
Can stay at home mothers still be feminists? Are SAHMs as somehow inferior to career women? Isn’t being a feminist about breaking away from the traditional conventional life of settling down and having children? And if so, how can I possibly be a good role model to my daughter?
Or is true feminism all about the freedom to choose?
