I’m Training to be a Personal Trainer but Tempted By The Christmas Food

December should be known universally as the period of temptation. Good will is at all time highs, everyone is in good spirits and the food tends to be plentiful.

However, that leads to a powerful force to combat if you recently started or are looking to start a fitness instructor course. Especially with this year seeing many eating at home alone without a larger family environment. The urge to delve into that box of Quality Street may be too much of a temptation to resist.

Happily, the outlook is not so fatty as you can still eat, drink and be merry without piling on the pounds and slowing your progress. Here are some handy tips to avoid turning your waistline into a wasteland this Christmas.

Do Your Best to Not Overdo Things

Christmas is that time to relax a little and enjoy the festivities, but keeping those health goals in mind and keeping your heart pumping healthily is what has been your major focus.

Most of us indulge in the wealth of food available to us within the Christmas period, but by giving a thought on if you want to have that starter or dessert you have a much better chance of sticking to your set plan. If you don’t want to overdo food over the dinner, consider the starter with some side vegetables instead of the main dinner, or simply have a smaller portion of the main course.

If the rest of the family are having pudding as a dessert, you can always opt for a tea or coffee to round out your meal, or you could share your pudding with someone if you both have those fitness goals.

Slice Off the Other Meals

If you really want to indulge in that big Christmas meal you could always shave off what you are eating leading up to it.

By enjoying lighter meals such as soup, salads or even a sandwich you can build up enough of an appetite without building up the weight. Source out options that are low in saturated fat, sugar and salt in order to enjoy yourself with that Christmas dinner bonus as a reward.

If Dining Out Prior to Xmas Day

Some of those in lower tier restrictions may find the opportunity to enjoy some nights out dining.

If this is you, the best way to make those healthy choices is to check the restaurant menu online prior to going and choosing what balanced meal with health in mind. This results in a plan so that you cannot be tempted by other people’s choices and you can book the meal ahead of showing up, which stops those tempting desserts from reaching your table upon viewing them.

Don’t be afraid of asking the restaurant to amend certain dishes to your preferred liking, replacing items like chips with a healthier alternative like a jacket potato or salad. You can also politely request that any dish have no cheese, butter or dressings and be replaced with something else and to have any coating sauces put on the side in a dish.

There are many tips to maintaining your goals when taking a fitness instructor courses Plymouth over the Christmas period. Planning ahead with your meal intake for the weeks leading up keeps you on the right path to achieve your fitness goals.
