Write a list of anything that seems to be missing. Also collect any evidence you have about items taken, such as receipts, photographs or valuations. This will help when dealing with both the police and your insurance company. Check jewellery boxes, drawers and cupboards to ensure you’re not missing anything. Also check items such as your driving license and passport haven’t been stolen.
When you have a list of everything that’s missing, along with your crime reference number from the police, contact your home and contents insurance.
