The Best Shows To See In the North West This Easter

Easter is almost upon us and so we are trying to cram in as many shows as possible to keep the kids entertained. We’re lucky to have so many lovely venues local to us playing host to some fantastic shows. Here’s some we can’t wait to see:

Elmer.  Waterside Arts. 3rd April 2019

All three of my children love Elmer. We were therefore so excited to see our favourite patchwork elephant is coming to Waterside Arts this Spring. The books by David McKee encourage individuality and acceptance and are favourites with kids of all ages. With songs, colour and humour, the show it set to be a big hit.

Zog. Storyhouse Chester. 2019

All Julia Donaldson stories are massively popular with our kids and Zog is up there as one of their favourites. The show features our favourite dragon as he desperately tries to impress at dragon school and prepares to face a duel with Gadabout the Great! With live musicians and fantastic puppets, this Freckle Productions show is set to be a hit with all the family.

Wizard Of Oz. St Helens Theatre Royal. 6th – 22nd April 2019

Featuring star of the soaps Linda Lusardi as The Wicked Witch and The Voice’s Lucy Kane as Glinda, The Wizard Of Oz is the must-see pantomine this Easter. Follow Dorothy on her journey to Oz with her faithful friends, Tin Man, Cowardly Lion, Scarecrow and Toto the dog. With a brand new script and music for 2019, the classic tale is adapted for new and old audiences. We can’t wait for this one!

Dear Zoo. Waterside Arts. 19th – 20th April 2019

I think I am yet to meet a single child he doesn’t know and love Dear Zoo. We are massive fans and we have the original lift-the-flap book, the “noisy” version, the jigsaw and the building blocks! With that in mind there’s no doubt the stage production at Waterside Arts (one of our favourite theatres) will be a massive hit with our family. Based on the classic story by Rod Campbell, the show is jam packed full of puppets, music and lots of audience interaction.

Twirlywoos. St Helens Theatre Royal. 27th – 28th April 2019.

The ever popular Twirlywoos are heading over to Merseyside this Easter!  If you have a young child you’ll no doubt know all about Great Bighoo, Toodloo, Chickedy and Chick from the CBeebies show. Expect inventive puppetry, music and mischief in a show perfect for a younger audience.

The Wonderful World of Disney On Ice. Liverpool M&S Bank Arena. 17th – 21st April 2019.

The Wonderful World of Disney of Ice is heading to venues all over the UK this year. For us in the North West Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena is our most local venue (formerly known as the Echo Arena). We are so excited to see all our favourite characters strutting their stuff on ice. Don’t have tickets yet? Then head over to my giveaway post to be in with a chance of winning a family ticket.

Are you going to a show this Spring? Let us know in the comments!

Disclaimer – Me and my family were offered complimentary tickets for the shows, but as always opinions remain my own.
