The daffodils are springing up, the weather is getting (slightly) warmer, it can only mean one thing, Easter is on its way! We are massive fans of Christmas and tend to have a pretty jam packed schedule during December. Easter however doesn’t seem to get the same amount of attention in our house. I’m determined that this year that is going change! There’s so many fun easter activities for kids and most can be done on a budget.
I’ve created our very own Easter / Spring bucket list and we’re hoping to tick off as many as possible.
I don’t know about anyone else’s kids, but for mine the highlight of Easter is the hunting of the eggs. The night before Easter my husband and I hide small eggs throughout the house and garden for the kids to find the next morning. Give the kids and basket each and let them loose!
Again, this is something we do each year. We’re lucky to have so many great National Trust locations near us and we do at least one Easter trail a year. Last year we did it at Rufford Old Hall and had a great time.
Books can make a fab chocolate-free gift for the kids at Easter. Whether it’s a gift, a borrow from the library or a book you already own, an Easter book can be the perfect way to get you into the spirit.
When it comes to fun easter activities for kids, decorating eggs is the perfect way to get the whole family involved. It’s such a simple but fun way to keep the kids busy over the holidays. Be as creative as you like!
Nothing says Spring quite like a visit to a local farm. We’re lucky to have quite a few local to us and the kids always have a great time seeing the animals.
There are so many crafts activities to take part in during the Easter holidays. The kids love anything from simpler ideas such as painting or colouring in, to more adventurous crafts activities like making bunting, designing mugs or trinket boxes. You can use easter egg clipart to create all kinds of crafty creations. Similarly svg files are fantastic for creating anything from t-shirts and mugs, to bags and homeware items. There’s something there for all occasions too so you’re not limited to Easter designs.
Take the kids on a nature walk if the sun is shining. See the flowers starting to bloom, do bark rubbings, build dens or simply enjoy the walk!
A great craft to do with the kids, and obviously the must-have fashion accessory this season! The Queen of Collage has a fab guide on how to create an Easter hat.

Get outdoors and take your lunch with you! Be it a local park, woodland or National Trust location, Spring is the perfect time for a family picnic.
There’s some great shows for kids over the Easter holidays. Here in the North West we’re lucky to have a few to choose from. Click here to find out what we’re looking forward to the most.

Making some Easter goodies is a great way to get the kids involved. You could try this yummy Creme Egg Easter bark, or Bunny Cake Pops and there’s always the old classic chocolate nests.

There are some fab suggestions here! We are so excited for Easter xxx
These are some fun suggestions! I haven’t got much planned for Easter this year other than spending time with family. I’d love to do an Easter Egg Hunt with my niece and nephew (ages 8 and 4). They’re really crafty so I think they’d enjoy decorating their own eggs too or creating an Easter bonnet. I used to love doing stuff like that when I was a kid.
What an absolutely amazing looking time it seems like you have planned out for Easter, I mean who wouldn't want to do all of this ready for all the chocolate!
A fab bucket list for Easter - we plan on doing a lot of the sameness things too :)
I love Easter (and Christmas too!) We do many of these activities you've suggested here. I love that it's a family time to celebrate but it doesn't have to cost the earth (unlike Christmas)
I used to love the easter egg hunts that my parents did when I was younger, they always made me so happy x
These are some great ideas! I used to love making Easter bonnets and painting eggs. I agree, It’s also nice to receive books for Easter
I dont know about the kids but I am super interested in going to the farm honestly! Looks so fun.
Egg hunting is huge with us too. We even play it indoors with a tiny chocolate egg after dinner.
I took my newphew on an Easter egg hunt and Winpole Hall last year and he loved it! We’re doing it again this year too x
