We Bet They Didn’t Tell You This About Pregnancy

Have you recently found that you are expecting? If so, then there are plenty of guides that you can read online. But they don’t tell you everything that is part of this journey. Here are some of the elements that are often missed when people talk about what to expect from your first pregnancy.

Discharge And Bodily Fluids

First, you should be prepared for the issue of discharge and other bodily fluids. Discharge is a white liquid that emerges during pregnancy. This is perfectly natural but it can be uncomfortable or even embarrassing if it stains your underwear. One of the ways that you can handle this is by using liner pads. This will ensure that things remain dry. Do be aware that it’s important to keep a check on your discharge. If it changes to a peculiar color, then you might need to speak to your doctor sooner rather than later.

After pregnancy and childbirth, your bowel movements may be impacted as well. Women may experience gas, bloating, and constipation on a regular basis. Scheduling a consultation with your doctor is a smart option if it becomes too bothersome and interrupts your daily life. Inquire about probiotic supplements that aid digestion and bowel movements, as well as lifestyle adjustments you might make to improve your symptoms.

Headaches

You might have heard about headaches that you can experience during pregnancy. However, it’s possible that people haven’t told you just how severe they can be. Headaches that are experienced during pregnancy can leave you completely drained and bedridden. If they get severe enough, then you might want to think about speaking to a doctor. Be aware that there are natural herbal remedies that can be used to deal with headaches if you are worried about using medication while you are pregnant. Headaches may also be because your body is not getting enough rest when you are pregnant so it’s important to try to get as many great nights of sleep as possible.

Pregnancy Brain

Pregnancy brain might sound like a myth, but it’s actually something that a lot of pregnant women do experience. You might be more forgetful than usual or you could struggle to find the right words when you are talking. As with the rest of the things that we have mentioned in this article, this type of effect is totally normal and shouldn’t be a great cause for concern. You’ll usually find that things do return to normal once you give birth or soon after. Of course, at that point, you might find that you are struggling with a lack of sleep which can have a similar impact.

Food Woes

Finally, you have probably heard that you will be starving through your pregnancy. You will have definitely heard the phrase ‘you’re eating for two’ at least once. However, this isn’t quite true. When you speak to your doctor, they will actually inform you that it’s more like eating for one and a half people. This essentially means that you should not double your intake overall. It’s also worth noting that some women find that their appetite actually takes a hit through pregnancy and this can cause problems. However, again this is perfectly normal and things will quickly stabilise.

We hope this helps you understand some of the things about pregnancy that you might not have heard before. It’s best to be prepared for things like this to ensure that the situation doesn’t catch you completely off guard.
