Tips For Designing Your Own Party Invitations

A party is a great opportunity to get friends and family together and can be a lot of fun. Planning a party is also a tremendous amount of work with all kinds of factors that need to be considered. A key area to focus on will be the party invitations. You want to get your invitations out early to increase the chances of as many people attending as possible, but you also want to create eye-catching invitations that will get people excited about the event. This post will take a look at a few of the main areas to focus on when designing your own party invitations.

Establish The Details

First, you need to establish what details the invitation needs to have. Typically, this will include:

  • Name(s)
  • Date
  • Time
  • Location
  • Theme
  • Dress code
  • RSVP instructions

Platform

You do not need to be a graphic designer to create professional-looking invitations these days. There are a number of platforms that you can use to easily create invitations using pre-designed templates, such as Canva. You can also order personalised invitations from places like Etsy.

Design

Now comes the fun part – designing the invitation! You will want to consider the theme and purpose of the event, whether it is a birthday party, anniversary, Christmas party, or any other kind. You can then pick a suitable colour scheme, imagery, and typography. Make sure that the layout is balanced and organised so that the key information is easy to read. You can still use pre-designed templates here by simply customising them with your own colours, text and images.

Printing

Once you are happy with your design, you are ready to print your invitations. You can print these at home if you have a printer or take the design to a local printing shop. Make sure that your invitations are printed on high-quality paper for a high quality finish.

Envelopes & Labels

You will then want to stock up on envelopes. You might also want to design these to catch the eye and build excitement when the recipient receives the invite through the post. I ordered some cheap address labels from Label Planet, which I printed at home. Once I added my own design, the labels looked super fun and cute!

Distribute

It is then a case of distributing the invites. You could either put them in the post or deliver them by hand if you are going to see any of the guests before they would arrive if posted. You want to ensure that everyone receives them well before the party as this will mean that they are more likely to attend. You can then wait for responses and finalise the guest list – there may be a few non-responders that you need to follow up with as well!

Hopefully, this post will help you to design fun, eye-catching invitations for your party. The invite is more than just sending the details of the event – this is how you build excitement! No matter what kind of party you are throwing, a fun and well-designed invite can get everyone in the mood and contribute to an enjoyable party for all.
