How To Makeover Your Kid’s Bedroom

Kids grow up so fast. Not only do you they outgrow their clothes and shoes in no time at all, but they also outgrow their bedrooms.  Wallpaper becomes too babyish and new fads arrive in the blink of an eye.

Kids’ bedrooms need to be able to adapt to changing tastes and needs as your children grow.  So, here’s a few tips to help you redecorate a bedroom for a growing child.

Wallpaper or Paint?

Try to keep decoration so that it is easy to change in the future.  If you wallpaper, then redecorating again in a few years will require stripping the old paper off and prepping the walls again.  If you choose to paint the walls, then it won’t be too difficult to refresh with a new colour later down the line.

Choosing a Carpet

Choose a hard-wearing carpet so it will stand the test of time, and hopefully you’ll only have to pay out once for the cost of fitting carpet in the bedroom.  Pick a neutral colour for the carpet so that it won’t clash with any future colour schemes.

Buying a Bed

While your child is still quite small it can be tempting to buy a small bed.  However, they will outgrow it faster than you think.  A full-size single bed will serve them better in the long run.  Go for a wooden frame if possible, as you can sand it down to remove any chips and scratches that occur.  You can repaint or revarnish the wood when it becomes tired, giving it a new lease of life.

Explore wide styles of toddler beds from Bed Kingdom that are known for their durability but also a range of stylish options that can seamlessly transition as your child grows. Their sturdy construction and safety features, including rails, make them a reliable choice for fostering a comfortable and secure sleep environment for your little one.

Flexible Storage

Choose storage with adjustable shelves.  This will give you the flexibility to keep plenty of shelves at a lower height when your child is small. Simply adjust or add to the shelves as they grow and can reach higher.  Modular storage and storage cubes are another great way to keep storage flexible.  This type of storage works just as well for toys, games, and gadgets, as it does for books and clothes.

Add Some Personality

When you’re redecorating, add finishing touches that can be easily changed in the future.  Decorate plain walls with pictures or wall stickers that can be removed or updated without any fuss.  Pick colourful curtains, light shades and duvet covers as these are easy to change as kids get older.
