Last weekend we were so excited to be invited to the Christmas Woodland at Blakemere Village in Cheshire. We’ve never visited Blakemere Village before but we’d always heard great things about the place as a whole, and the events held there.
It was a gorgeous crisp and frosty day; the perfect weather for a festive day out. We were greeted by an elf who set us on our way. Our woodland adventure had begun!
We have been to various Christmas grottos over the years, but never anything quite like the Christmas Woodland at Blakemere. This was a theatrical production as we were introduced to various woodland characters. There were songs and laughs aplenty as we were led through the woods. It was very interactive and my son was thrilled to be chosen to look after the magic dust!
Seeing Jack Frost was a highlight for all three of my children but my daughter was beside herself when she saw the unicorn! It made me quite emotional as it was so well done. There was such a lovely magical festive atmosphere, it was hard not to be swept up in it all.
I don’t want to go into too much detail about the production so as not to spoil it for future visitors but it was honestly fantastic from start to finish. It was well organised as we were led from character to character as we continued our search to Santa. Each character was engaging and convincing and all the children were just in awe of them all.
You’re led through the woodland in a small group but each child had the opportunity to have a meet and greet with Santa on their own. It was a lovely unhurried experience. Each child was given a gift which could be opened in the workshop with Mrs Claus.
The gifts were all the same (which we thought was fantastic – it saves arguments between my three!) Once in the workshop the children could stuff their soft toy and add a heart in a similar way to Build A Bear. It was a lovely touch to have the children feel like they were helping Mrs Claus and the elves. The gift itself was lovely quality – no cheap tat here! It will be a lovely toy for the children to keep. There was also a small gift for adults too which we thought was a lovely touch.
After visiting Mrs Claus the group dispersed and we were free to explore the other activities on offer. There was outdoor skating which was included in the price which the kids loved. There was also face-painting, wand whittling and the opportunity to meet and hold birds of prey, all included in the price.
The Christmas Woodland is running every weekend up until Christmas, as well as the 23rd October. The tickets are priced at £30 each or £10 for under threes. It’s not the cheapest event but honestly it’s worth every penny. We were there over three hours and it certainly got us all in the festive spirit.
We would all definitely recommend Christmas Woodland at Blakemere Village. Please check out the Christmas Woodland website for more information and to book.
