Blackpool Tower Eye Review : Days Out With Kids

Blackpool Tower Eye Review

During our trip to Blackpool we were excited to be offered a Blackpool Big Ticket so we could make the most of what Blackpool had to offer.

The Big Ticket includes the following attractions :

We have an annual trip to Blackpool in Autumn to see the famous illuminations, but we’d never actually been inside the tower prior to this trip. We therefore excited to go and explore.

Disappointingly the Tower Ballroom was closed during our weekend trip but the Big Ticket is valid for 90 days.

Blackpool Tower Eye Review

The Blackpool Tower Eye is the ultimate experience of Blackpool’s most famous attraction. You enter through security and bag checks and are led to the 4D cinema. The production brings Blackpool Tower and its history to life using 3D glasses and special effects. I actually really enjoyed the short film; it highlights the special history the tower has and really gets you in the mood to visit the top.

Throughout the journey there are facts and questions to keep the kids entertained.

After the 4D show we took the 69 second lift trip to the top of the tower. It was at this point my husband began to feel a tad wobbly! He’s not great with heights (to put it mildly) and the minute we got to the top he took a seat and remained there until we left!

However our fearless children and I ventured onto the glass to get the best view. The scene below us was a reminder of just how high we were! We were rewarded with a great view of the Comedy Carpet full of famous quotes, as well as Blackpool’s promenade.

The views out to sea were equally impressive and there were signs in each direction informing us what we would be able to see. From one angle you could see up to the Lake District whilst another offered views of the Isle Of Man. There are steps to climb to the highest point accessible to the public which the kids and I did while my husband remained parked on his seat!

The tower has its very own Sky High Cocktail Bar – Bar 380. The bar offers fantastic view across Blackpool at 380ft and you can sample cocktails, mocktails and more!

Overall Experience

Myself and the kids loved it! My husband enjoyed the 4D cinema and the view from his seat! It’s definitely worth doing if you’re visiting Blackpool. If you are booking tickets just for the Blackpool Tower Eye, prices start at £10 for children, and £12.50 with further discounts for a family of four. However if you plan on visiting the Tower Ballroom, Dungeon or Circus, it can be cheaper to buy a combination ticket. See the Blackpool Tower Website for more detail.

  • This looks fun, we're hoping to visit Blackpool at the end of the month, its not somewhere we've been before. Mich x

  • The Blackpool Ticket sounds like a great way to visit these attractions at reduced prices. I didn't know that Blackpool had a Madame Tussauds; I went to the London one for the first time this year and that was fun!

  • I haven’t been up Blackpool tower for years and years. Sounds like it’s well worth a visit for my little ones. Dex would love the 4D experience!

  • This sounds like a fun day trip! I've not yet been to Blackpool or the tower, but I'll remember it for the future.

  • We LOVE Blackpool, luckily were only an hour away and visit several times a year. It has everything as a tourist destination. But.... My fear of heights means I haven't been up the tower for about 10 years last time it saw me sitting by lift waiting to go back down and crawling back in the lift on my hands and knees ?

  • I did this when I went to Blackpool and the views were lovely as we had such good weather x

  • The last time we visited and wanted to climb the tower, it was closed, which we knew the tickets were valid for that long.

  • Thats some view from the top of the tower! We've never been to Blackpool but would love to go and see the illuminations one year and walk the promenade x Great suggestions of things to do :)

  • We are going to Blackpool this summer and I hope to go up the tower with the kids but my partner is adamant he's not going to as he's afraid of heights. Love the view of the sea from the tower.

  • I'm with your husband on this one. Not in a million years would you get me to stand on that glass floor!
