Hen Weekend Essentials That You Simply Can’t Go Without

So you’ve just received your hen weekend invite through the post, and you have no idea what to expect. This could be one of those raucous affairs that you baulk at when trying to imagine the volume of alcohol you may consume, the embarrassing situations you may find yourself in and the amount of money you may find yourself forking out for a couple of nights away with the bride to be. Or it could end up being one of the most delightful and relaxing soirees away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Taking a weekend out of your busy schedule to spend some quality time with your pal before she turns from a Miss to a Mrs could create the most wonderful memories.

It can be tricky when trying to work out what to pack for such a jaunt. Much depends on where you will be heading. You might be hot-footing it abroad for a salubrious city break, you might be renting a cottage in the middle of nowhere, or you might be venturing to the sun, sea and sand of a beach destination. It doesn’t matter where you are heading to, there are some hen weekend essentials that you simply cannot go without.

Tissues

It sounds crazy that the humble tissue will be top of your hen party essentials list, but you may be surprised at the amount of tears that fall down your cheeks throughout your weekend away. You’ll be reminiscing about your early schmearly days of friendship when the tears might start rolling. You might be laughing so hard about the antics of your weekend that you might begin suffering from laughter induced weeping. Or you may find yourself having a little heart to heart with your friend and sobbing together as you realize she is moving forward and beginning a new chapter of her life. Pack an abundance of tissues, and you will never be caught short.

Evenings Out

It doesn’t matter whether you are heading for a weekend of clubbing to recapture your youth, going to a spa for a relaxing couple of nights away or finding yourself in the middle of nowhere in a log cabin, there will be times when you want to head out in the evenings. As you don’t want to be stuck wearing your t-shirt and jeans for every outing, it’s wise to pack a couple of party dresses to cover every eventuality. You might want a slinky little number for an evening at a wine bar, or a more formal dress for that dinner out at a posh restaurant.

Remember to accessorize with some jewelry, a clutch bag and some kitten heels. Dresses and smaller heels won’t take up too much room in your luggage which is important if you’re heading abroad with just carry-on. You don’t have to pack your entire wardrobe for a hen weekend. Two dresses should cover it as well as your essential makeup and skincare products.

Gel Insoles

Easily overlooked, but you need to make sure you feel comfortable when out and about on the hen weekend. You may be traveling around a city taking in the sights, or you might find yourself in a club and dancing the night away. You need to make sure that you have your trusty pair of gel insoles to ease the strain on your heels, the balls of your feet and your toes. Blisters and corns can make your weekend of fun descend into a nightmare so whip out the gel insoles at the earliest opportunity.

Power Pack

You don’t want to be totally off-grid while out and about on a hen weekend so ensure that your smartphone, tablet and iPod remain charged while you are away by bringing a mobile power pack with you. The little nuggets of power are tiny and portable taking up minimal space in any bag you might be carrying with you. Low battery needn’t be a worry when you are busy snapping away happily, taking selfies galore and uploading Amaro-filtered updates to Instagram for your peeps back home to see.

While you won’t be scrolling through your Facebook feed for hours on end while you are busy enjoying your time away with your girlfriends, you will want your smartphone to be usable in an emergency.

Hen weekends should be fun, full of nostalgia and be the perfect opportunity to spend quality time with the bride to be. Ensure that you pack these essentials to ensure you can enjoy the weekend, whatever experiences the hens throw at you.
